ICED AGE 1.2 – MAJOR CONTENT UPDATE

This is one of the largest Iced Age updates so far, introducing four complete prehistoric animals, a full Kelenken domestication and riding system, new hunting tools, reusable traps, lithic resources, nests, incubation, foods, decorations and major animation improvements.

NEW PREHISTORIC WILDLIFE

Cave Hyena
• Added adults and cubs with normal, pale and charcoal coat variants.
• Cave hyenas live in social clans and defend one another, reacting especially strongly when a cub is threatened.
• They scavenge raw meat, carrion and bones found on the ground.
• Hyenas can visibly carry bones and store them inside naturally generated dens.
• Added unique eating, threatening, attacking, giggling, carrying and locomotion animations.
• Added dedicated sounds, footprints, drops and raw and cooked cave hyena meat.

Megaloceros
• Added males, females and calves with four coat variants for every age and sex.
• Adult males have large visible antlers and can retaliate against attackers.
• Females and calves rely more heavily on fleeing and staying with the herd.
• Megaloceros herds can naturally appear across the main Iced Age biomes.
• Added unique models, animations, hoof particles, sounds, drops and raw and cooked meat.

Steppe Bison
• Added bulls, cows and calves with four coat variants for every age and sex.
• Herds can graze, warn one another, regroup, defend calves and launch powerful charges.
• Steppe bison can paw snow away from the ground while grazing.
• Herds react to nearby predators and can huddle together during severe blizzards.
• Added unique models, horns, animations, cold breath, hoof effects, sounds, drops and raw and cooked meat.

Pleistocene Wolverine
• Added males, females and cubs, including solitary adults and mothers travelling with young.
• Wolverines scavenge food and use a persistent caching system.
• They can carry food, find a safe location, bury it, guard it, relocate it and return to eat it later.
• Wolverines compete with other scavengers and seek shelter during intense blizzards.
• Added unique models, carrying visuals, digging, sniffing, threatening and feeding animations, cold breath, snow effects, sounds and drops.

COMPLETE KELENKEN OVERHAUL

Taming and Breeding
• Kelenken can now be passively tamed by approaching carefully from behind while crouching.
• Taming requires three successful feeds, with a hunger period between each step.
• Kelenken accept their new dedicated berries as well as selected raw meats.
• Added a clean in-world taming indicator positioned behind the animal, showing when the next feed is ready.
• Added male and female Kelenken with a subtle visual difference: adult males have a larger colour-matched crest.
• Tamed Kelenken belonging to the same owner can breed and produce eggs.
• Added natural growth for newly hatched chicks.

Nests and Incubation
• Added a craftable Kelenken nest with two independent egg slots.
• Added large circular wild nests that can naturally contain one or two eggs.
• Wild nests generate naturally in the Mammoth Steppe and Windswept Heights.
• Nests support safe egg insertion, removal, incubation, breaking and recovery.
• Added a complete 3D nest, egg and wild nest display with visible egg states.

Riding and Equipment
• Added a dedicated Kelenken saddle required for riding.
• Added a brood harness capable of carrying and incubating up to two eggs.
• Harness eggs are shown directly on the animal and update visually as eggs are added or removed.
• Added a charged jump with separate crouch, charge, take-off, airborne and landing phases.
• Added gravity-driven gliding with horizontal steering. Kelenken can travel through the air and slow their descent, but cannot fly or hover.
• Kelenken and their legitimate riders are protected from fall damage while using the mount system.
• Saddles, harnesses and carried eggs can be safely recovered if the Kelenken dies.

Combat
• The original beak attack has been preserved.
• Added a second special claw attack with aggressive wingbeats, three timed hits, knockback, dust and feather bursts.
• Wild Kelenken use the beak attack more frequently while occasionally choosing the stronger claw attack.
• Mounted players can trigger two different attacks.
• Added protection to prevent riders from accidentally striking their own mount or allied tamed creatures.

Animation and Visual Improvements
• Expanded the Kelenken from six to thirteen animations.
• Completely reworked running with stronger body, leg, wing, crest and tail movement.
• Improved mounted animation speed so it better matches actual movement speed.
• Added smoother gliding with wider, more organic wing and body motion.
• Reworked the special claw attack to be longer, faster, more forceful and more visually dramatic.
• Added unique charge, take-off, airborne and landing animations for the new jump.
• Fixed wing clipping, inward folding, dark wing faces, missing UV coverage and gliding z-fighting.
• Added separate 3D overlays for the male crest, saddle, brood harness, carried eggs and taming indicator.
• Added surface-tinted attack dust and animated feather particles matched to all four Kelenken coats.

Kelenken Resources
• Added the Kelenken feather as a dedicated drop with a fully textured item icon.
• Added Kelenken-fletched arrows with greater speed, a flatter trajectory and increased power.
• Existing bows now support the new Kelenken arrows.
• Added Kelenken berries and a dedicated berry shrub with harvesting and natural regrowth.

PALEOLITHIC HUNTING AND SURVIVAL

Weapons and Ammunition
• Added Kelenken-fletched arrows for fast, flat shots.
• Added shale broadhead arrows designed for heavier impact.
• Added the moraine sling with a dedicated loading animation.
• Added moraine pebbles as sling ammunition.
• Updated the flint, ivory and gelid rock bows to support the new arrow types.
• Added the shale scraper as a new carcass-processing tool.

Reusable Traps
• Added a paleolithic snare that slows captured animals. Large megafauna can break free.
• Added a stone deadfall trap that damages prey, with reduced effectiveness against very large animals.
• Added a modular covered pit trap whose connected covers can collapse together when stepped on.
• Covered pits can be rearmed with dry thatch and never excavate terrain automatically.
• Added angular scree caltrops that damage and slow creatures walking over them.

Light, Heat and Construction
• Added a refillable animal-fat lamp with four fuel charges, manual lighting and extinguishing, and recoverable unused fuel.
• Added the glacial hearthstone as a compact source of both light and heat.
• Added the rime lantern as a new prehistoric light source.
• Added loess daub as a new building material.

Art and Decoration
• Added a dotted ivory pendant and a mammoth ivory amulet.
• Added nine placeable ivory figurines representing the addon’s prehistoric fauna.
• Added new models and textures for traps, lamps, hearthstones, lanterns, nests, dens and decorative objects.

USEFUL NATURAL RESOURCES

• Geological formations now provide dedicated crafting materials instead of serving only as decoration.
• Angular scree provides fragments for caltrops.
• Glacial erratics provide chunks for hearthstones.
• Moraine pebble deposits provide sling ammunition.
• Shale fans provide splinters for broadhead arrows.
• Rime rubble and crystals provide materials for lanterns.
• Ventifacts provide fragments that can repair prehistoric tools.
• Flint nodules, frost-shattered pebbles, loess clods and polished shale now feed directly into crafting and tool progression.
• Wind-packed snow formations provide recoverable snow chunks that can be crafted back into a full block.

FOOD AND ANIMAL RESOURCES
